Chapai-Nawabgonj Choto Sona Mosque.

Choto Shona Mosque is one of the oldest mosque in Bangladesh Islamic History And Culture. It is located in Chapai-Nawabgonj. It is placed arround three kilo-meter of the katwali gate and half km to the south-east of the mughal complex in called pirozpur area. This mosque were called gem of Gaoro.

History of Soto Sona Mosque is, Sultan Hussain Shah was built it bewteen 1493 and 1519. There are 15domes, 82 feet hieght and 52.5 feet width in this mosque and all were gilded. It is built by brick and stone. It’s wall made by brick but internal and external is blocked by stone. The inside of the mosque, measuring 21.2 by 12.2 meters is isolated into three paths by two lines of stone columns, four in each line. The interior of the mosque was built on the 8 pillars and walls of the mosque with 15 domes. The middle part of the wall between the east entrance of the central mihrab and the domes on the roof of the dome of the Bengali chau. They are semi-circular dome. One feature of the mosque is the only five-dome that can be seen by looking from the side, not in the back of the domes. Basically the whole mosque, decorated stone, brick, terracotta and tiles have been used. Among them are works of stone carving. The front of the mosque, door on stone have fine work, where have been engraved the spinach, hibiscus, hanging chain, bell etc. Once the outer layer of the mosque was on the gold-colored, some say only the domes. The interior is rich in terracotta domes. There are five arched doors on the east wall of the mosque. Split the pillars. They are rich in ornamentation. There are three doors north and south walls. The style is in the north-west wall of all the stairs. The stairs up to the first floor of the mosque, located in a special compartment inside the north-west. Compartment located on stone pillars. It was the Sultan or ruler prayer room. This mosque or architecture is carry importance of our islamic history and culture.

Interior Of Choto Sona Mosque.

The main entrance of the courtyard of the mosque, there is an arcade. The outer side was covered with stones. It 2.4 meters wide. Height of 7.6 meters. The mosque is located in the middle of the door along the arcade. There is a tank on the north side of the mosque, once the roads were paved. The two settings are buried at the south-east, 1.3 meters high surrounded by a pacila. Two of the dead Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir and Major Nazmul Haq Tulu. Both of them died in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
